The Company
Dukeries Theatre Group is a vibrant, amateur company with aspirations to achieve professional standards. In recent years it has scooped a number of drama association regional awards.
The group’s home, since 2006, has been the recently-refurbished Acorn Theatre in the heart of Worksop where we share the stage with touring professionals, folk groups, tribute bands, drama schools, dance schools and other societies. The Group's pedigree goes back as far as 1947 when it first began life as the Worksop Dramatic Society. From comedy to tragedy, thriller to farce, Ayckbourn to Wilde, the range of productions has been diverse and has even included a number of musical elements. Recent peformances include, among others, Educating Rita by Willy Russell, Charley’s Aunt by Brandon Thomas, All My Sons by Arthur Miller, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof by Tenessee Williams, Hobson’s Choice by Harold Brighouse, Big Bad Mouse by King and Cary and JB Priestley’s When We Are Married. Click on Past Productions for a complete chronology of DTG shows. This friendly group consists primarily of adults and as well as presenting two major shows each year, a number of reviews and one-off platform productions have been delivered. We actively encourage new members and hope to expand our repertoire further. Our partnership with the Acorn Theatre means we can always rely on competent in-house technicians to help design and build our sets and execute lighting and sound plots. Front of house duties are often shared. We always need help with the nuts and bolts of stage management, set decoration, costumes, stewarding and marketing and promotion; there are plenty of opportunities for those who do not necessarily want to actually tread the boards at the present time but would still like to enjoy the social aspects of working within the Group , |
